Pineville gets its name from the large pine trees that used to tower over the town. In 1852 there was a railway depot that was built through the center of the town. The sign at the depot read “Pineville”, and so it was named. Pineville was incorporated in 1873.  This small, charming community is located between Charlotte North Carolina and York County South Carolina.

Pineville is known for the antique shops located in it's historic downtown area, Carolina Place Mall, and the popular Belle Johnston Community Center recreation area. Pineville is also the birthplace of James K. Polk, the 11th President of The United States. The population is 4,267. The average gross income is $39,300.  Home values range from $100-$300,000.
