The City of Waxhaw takes its name from the Indian tribe, the Waxhaws, which once lived in the area. The town wasn’t prosperous until 1888 when railroad tracks leading to Atlanta was built. The town was a cotton farming town, but later became a town known for antiques and fine dining.
Waxhaw is located minutes from Charlotte NC and officialy resides in Union County. Waxhaw has a small town feel that features specialty shops, lots of dining, and museums. Cane Creek Park is a 1050 acre park that is close by. Waxhaw has gone under considerable development in the past few years, which is the reason it has become one of the more popular areas to live.
